To kick off Maruhon Sesame Oil’s entry into the U.S. market, we partnered with the Culinary Institute of America’s New York location. Mr Takemoura, who is the 11th generation owner of Takemoto Oil & Fat Co. Ltd., came to the U.S to introduce his Maruhon Sesame Oil.
Students were invited to pair up with another Culinary Institute student and submit a recipe video to enter the Maruhon Sesame Oil Culinary Challenge. The winning pair of chefs will be winning a trip for two to Japan!
On September 12th and 13th Takemoto chefs did a presentation at the New York Culinary of American location showing different ways Japanese sesame oils can be used and offered samples to these future chefs of America. Culinary students asked questions and were encouraged to create a new twist on an American classic with one of the four types of traditionally pressed Japanese sesame oils.
